De la escuela democrática a la participación política y ciudadana

Resumen

En este artículo estudiamos la influencia que puede tener en los estudiantes de secundaria el hecho de ejercer un cargo escolar en su intención de participar políticamente en la sociedad. Para ello se han analizado las repuestas que 300 estudiantes de entre 13 y 18 años pertenecientes a un centro de marcadas prácticas democráticas han dado sobre su experiencia democrática escolar y su intención de participación política. En los resultados se encuentra que la intención de participación convencional, en la que aparecen acciones como votar, no depende directamente de haber ejercido o no un cargo en la escuela. Sin embargo, la participación política no convencional, como manifestarse o adherirse a boicots sí que tiene una vinculación significativa con haber ejercido cargos escolares. La conclusión fundamental es que ejercer un cargo escolar influye significativamente en la formación democrática y la intención de participar políticamente en la sociedad, pero esta influencia se vincula fundamentalmente a acciones no convencionales como adherirse a huelgas y boicots o asistir a manifestaciones
