Abstract

This chapter analyses different generations behavior in the digital age, describing the different uses they made of Internet and social networks. In addition, it questions the distinction between digital natives and digital immigrants based on generation versus the new distinction between digital residents and digital visitors. Next, the reality of the personal contact in the digital era is analyzed, showing the paradoxes that exist in the some of the business’ companies emerged in this new era. Finally, the chapter focuses on one of the main problems that Internet and social network use represents for the young population: cyberbullying. This problem is analyzed by presenting a study that investigates the role of the family as a protective factor against cyberbullying, that shows the benefices of indulgent parenting.
